This home is a semi custom home in a Tuscan architectural style. The design challenge facing DIVA INTERIOR DESIGN, LTD was to create the feeling of an old Tuscan home with authentic materials and finishes with the addition of furnishings in a combination of old world and contemporary styles.
This was accomplished by using materials and finishes that look and feel like they belong to the house and have a sense of history and age to them. The flooring in the main part of the house is reclaimed, French antique terracotta pavers. All the walls are a smooth finish with a variety of hues of limewash applied to create a very natural, plaster-like, rich patina. Limewash has been used for centuries in Europe as a wall/paint treatment.
DIVA INTERIOR DESIGN, LTD. designed and facilitated the fabrication of the unique kitchen island to look like an antique work station, using a butcher block top with copper strapping on the edges. There is a lower counter at chair height that is used for daily eating and serves as a transition from the Kitchen to the Great Room.
Most of the furniture has been designed by the firm to create a unique, eclectic look: rustic, old world mixed with some contemporary, clean lined pieces. The rooms, the color palette and the furnishings have been designed around the client’s contemporary art collection, creating a comfortable, rich and inviting atmosphere.
