Portfolio: California Beach Cottage
Description

This home, located by the beach, is a new construction. Work began on this project when the architectural plans were completed. The client wanted to create a beach cottage look, and they wanted the interior to be well thought out, not over-decorated or contrived, timeless, fresh, and serene. The color scheme came about from a painting of the local beach area that is seen in a corner of the dining room.

The scope of the project was comprehensive. Continuing the design concept and color scheme, a complete spec book for construction was provided with all the interior finishes and interior details including: cabinet styles and drawings, fireplace design and material drawing, tile and stone selections and design drawings, plumbing, appliances, flooring and paint colors. One unique material was a reclaimed wood floor from a cotton mill in South Carolina, which gave the house special character and personality. DIVA also designed and provided all the furnishings to further carry out the color scheme, style and feeling of the project. The result was a very special California beach cottage home.

Client Comments

Left Quote Mark We got exactly what we wanted. We wanted someone to help us create a unique look that was classic and elegant, but not overdone or with a decorated look. The house has continuity and each room presents the same serene feeling we described as our dream home at our first meeting. We love our home! Right Quote Mark
